CREW SHOUT OUT
Pre-production on our film has been going great, and now it’s time to crew up. We have a lot of talented people on board already but there are still some great roles available. We have broken down the roles into three areas: production, technical and child-focused.

"Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg?" is a children's film, with a lot of child actors. If you are DBS (CRB) checked, and/or have first-aid qualifications or experience filming with younger actors, let us know. We are shooting in holidays and weekends to work around availability of the children and the location. Here are the fixed dates:
Tues 26th August - Sun 31st August (6 days)
Sat 6th & Sun 7th September (2 days)
Sat 13th & Sun 14th Sept (2 days)
Sat 20th & Sun 21st Sept (2 days)
Sat 27th & Sun 28th Sept (2 days)
Sat 4th & Sun 5th October (2 days)
Sat 11th & Sun 12th Oct (2 days)
Sat 18th & Sun 19th Oct (2 days)
Sat 25th to Saturday 1st November (8 days)
The upside of this schedule is that it means other work can continue in-between (as well as offline editing and prep for the following weekend). This is a micro-budget production. Payment is offered on a deferred basis. As such, we really welcome those who are looking to step up to the next rung in their career.
Annie East is our production manager overall, but she can't be on set every day. We are therefore specifically looking for:
A 1st AD for the whole shoot, who can keep the cast and crew moving. Our production days are short due to filming with children, which is good news - but this also means a focused approach is required.
Production office manager for the whole shoot. It is useful to have a key person on location but in our office, to act as a focal point for all communication.
Runners - especially with own transport.
Camera assistant / Op - Shaune Fradley is our DoP. We're using the BlackMagic 4k with prime lenses. We may need 2 camera assistants but the role would also include being DoP for any day Shaune is away.
Gimbal Op - we are using a Movi-style device called the ShadowCam, with the designers being on set for some of the shoot too. This is a challenging job and would suit a physically capable camera op.
2nd camera unit - we are planning on shooting with a second camera (as sometimes working with children you only get limited takes). This role would suit a DSLR owner who is looking to expand their body of work.
Loader / Offline editor on set - we feel this role could be both useful and interesting. First, it involves off loading digital footage. Secondly, to label and order the footage. Thirdly, to create offlines, including simple grades, to check the footage and to start assembling the film. We have an online edit consultant, Danny Mellow, who will visit the set periodically and can give fine-tuning advice.
3rd AD for children - a special role, for co-ordinating and organising children during larger scenes.
